Paris, France & Borgo Chiese, Italy, March 31, 2025 – Hydroalp, Italian company acting as EPC in green hydrogen production and renewables plants, and KHIMOD, a French leader in decarbonization technologies, have announced their partnership to develop Pegasus, a groundbreaking e-methane industrial production project in Italy, promoted by Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI), the independent gas TSO in Italy. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the utilization of CO₂ and renewable hydrogen, contributing to Europe’s energy transition goals.
The unit supplied by KHIMOD, slated to begin operations in early 2026, will convert CO₂ from agricultural waste fermentation and green hydrogen produced from renewable sources (solar, hydro, and wind) into E-Methane. With an annual production capacity of 116 metric tons, this synthetic, carbon-neutral E-Methane will be seamlessly integrated into the local gas grid, supplying the equivalent of the annual energy needs of approximately 150 households.
By preventing over 300 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, the project aligns with Europe’s decarbonization and energy transition objectives. Locally produced and consumed E-Methane represents a sustainable and sovereign alternative to imported fossil fuels.
A modular unit designed and manufactured in France
KHIMOD’s modular, ready-to-use unit will be delivered and installed by the end of 2025, with commissioning and connection to the local gas grid planned for the first quarter of 2026. The catalytic reactors, a core component of the technology, will be manufactured at KHIMOD’s facility in Wissous, France. The unit will operate continuously, supplying EMethane to the gas grid—a decarbonized natural gas supporting the transition to sustainable energy.
KHIMOD’s technology leverages a cutting-edge milli-structured reactor heat exchanger to optimize the catalytic reaction’s intensity. These compact, high-performance modular units enable on-site production of low-carbon gas, ensuring direct compatibility with existing gas infrastructure.
Developed by KHIMOD, this technology marks a major advancement in the Power-to-X and Waste-to-X sectors, emerging as a key alternative to fossil fuels.
A strategic partnership for a growing market
For KHIMOD, this project strengthens its position as a European leader in methanation and highlights the competitiveness of its synthetic molecule production solutions. For Hydroalp, the collaboration opens new opportunities in hydrogen and synthetic gas technologies, reinforcing its commitment to innovative energy solutions.

“This partnership with Hydroalp represents a significant milestone for KHIMOD’s development. Our innovative methanation technology showcases once again our ability to turn environmental challenges into sustainable opportunities. This project is a critical step forward in advancing Power-to-X and Waste-to-X solutions, essential to addressing tomorrow’s energy challenges.”
– Nicolas Serrie, President of KHIMOD
“This project with KHIMOD perfectly demonstrates our ambition to expand our expertise by exploring innovative solutions for the energy transition. We look forward to strengthening our strategic partnership with KHIMOD.”
— Giovanni Fornasa, Sales Manager at Hydroalp

ABOUT HYDROALP
Hydroalp, an EPC contractor in the renewable energy sector, was born in 2015, inspired by the Alps for the values of innovation, sustainability, and integration that they represent. These values can contribute to the sustainable development of energy resources, preserving and enhancing the environment for future generations. Thanks to the longstanding experience and expertise of its technical department, Hydroalp has grown and acquired a prominent position in the market for the construction of turbines and hydropower plants, revamping activities, and maintenance. Thanks to its experience as an EPC, Hydroalp has recently structured itself with a new division specialised in the construction of turnkey plants for the production of green hydrogen. Furthermore, with the acquisition of Al.fa. Impianti, a company with more than thirty years of experience in the production of modular skid systems, Hydroalp has implemented its offer of services and technological expertise, proposing itself as a supplier of plant components related to the management of fluids, gas, biofuel, and innovative fuels (biomethane, methanol, ammonia, and green hydrogen) aimed at the energy, transport, and marine sectors.
The company is part of BM Group, an industrial group headquartered in Borgo Chiese (TN) that combines companies specialising in digital and environmental technologies for industry. BM Group today has more than 350 direct employees located in the various Italian and foreign branches, working within three macro-areas of specialisation: automation, mechatronics, and renewable energy.
