Low-carbon methane from CO₂ and hydrogen or syngas

A scalable solution to decarbonize gas networks and industrial energy uses. KHIMOD enables the production of synthetic natural gas (SNG) through high-performance methanation processes.

What is Low-carbon methane ?

A central molecule for the energy transition

Low-carbon methane, or synthetic natural gas (SNG), is produced by combining captured CO₂ with low-carbon hydrogen through methanation processes such as the Sabatier reaction. It can also be produced from a syngas generally compounded of CO₂, CO and hydrogen which can for example be produced by biomass gaseification.

Fully compatible with existing gas infrastructure, it can be injected into networks or used directly in industrial and energy applications.

Use cases

A direct lever for decarbonizing existing systems

Low-carbon methane, or synthetic natural gas (SNG), stands out for its ability to leverage existing infrastructure without requiring major changes in end-use systems.

How it works

High-performance methanation processes

Low-carbon methane production relies on and the Sabatier reaction. The methanation reaction is highly exothermic and requires precise thermal control.

KHIMOD’s Heat Exchanger-Reactors ensure stable operating conditions, enabling efficient and continuous low-carbon methane production.
