Understanding THOR

An overview of how KHIMOD’s technology enables high-performance low-carbon methanol production.

KHIMOD’s contribution

A new approach to methanol synthesis

At the core of THOR: KHIMOD’s Heat Exchanger-Reactors, designed to operate under demanding conditions and optimize highly exothermic reactions. This enables:

Improved control of reaction conditions

Very high selectivity

Much higher CO₂ conversion

THOR demonstrates the ability to move beyond conventional process limitations.

Performance

Unlocking higher efficiency

Compared to standard methanol processes, THOR enables:

Significantly higher CO₂ conversion rates

Improved yields and selectivity

Reduced by-products and simplified downstream processing

This results in more compact and efficient production units, with improved economic performance.

Application

A key building block for low-carbon fuels

The low-carbon methanol produced can be used as:

Impact

From pilot to industrial scale

THOR validates KHIMOD’s technology under real industrial conditions and paves the way for commercial-scale low-carbon methanol projects.

It demonstrates a viable pathway toward more competitive CO₂-based fuel production.
